Trump Launches Discount Prescription Drug Website
M.A. Dworkin
Washington, D.C. - President Donald Trump has officially unveiled TrumpRx.gov, a transformative new platform that gives Americans direct access to dramatically lower prices on dozens of common, high-cost, brand name prescription drugs.
Secured through a landmark Most-Favored-Nation pricing agreement with leading pharmaceutical manufacturers, these deals ensure Americans pay prices aligned with the lowest in other developed nations, ending decades of overpayment and delivering immediate monetary relief.
The Trump Administration claims that American patients, especially the millions who face high out-of-pocket costs for medications not fully covered by insurance, can access substantially lower prices on dozens of essential drugs via TrumpRx.gov.
Trump officials also state that the Trump Administration will continue to pursue the best possible deals for the American people, and that additional high-cost medications will be added to the list on a rolling basis.
“It is one of the most transformative health care initiatives of all time,” Trump said. “It has the potential to generate significant savings for patients facing high medication costs…Starting today, dozens of the most commonly used prescription drugs will be available at dramatic discounts for all consumers throughout this new website.”
In the announcement, made at the White House, the President was joined by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Administrator Mehmet Oz and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The platform does not sell prescription drugs directly to patients, instead it connects users to participating manufacturers’ websites where medications can be purchased directly or where printable discount coupons can be obtained for use at retail pharmacies. The initial launch listed 43 medications from 10 pharmaceutical companies, with Administration officials indicating that additional drugs and manufacturers are expected to be added in the coming months.
Participating companies include Eli Lilly, Pfizer, Novo Nordisk, AstraZeneca, and EMD Serono. The medications available on the current platform include several high-cost treatment categories, including diabetes, weight loss, asthma, HIV, and fertility care.
The website asks customers to confirm that they are not enrolled in any “government, state, or federally funded medical or prescription benefit program.” Those with both commercial and government funded plans are considered to be on government insurance and are not permitted to participate in TrumpRx.
“I take this coupon and bring it to the pharmacy,” a Trump Official explained the procedure. “I can print it out. I can add it to my wallet on my phone, whether it’s an Apple or an Android. I show it to the pharmacist, and I get the coupon credit right at the register.”
The website also identifies which drugs are commonly prescribed along side the medicine that someone is getting a coupon for, as well as which pharmacies carry it.
Some of the most familiar medications on the website are: Insulin lispro, Wegovy in both oral and pen form, Ozempic, Zepbound, the fertility medication Gonal-F, the rescue inhaler Airsupra, and Farxiga.
