DPNR ANNOUNCES IMPROVEMENTS TO ALTONA LAGOON BOATING ACCESS DOCK

DPNR ANNOUNCES IMPROVEMENTS TO  ALTONA LAGOON BOATING ACCESS DOCK 

Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources  (DPNR) announces that renovation work is underway at the Altona Lagoon Boating Access  Dock in Christiansted, St. Croix, as part of the department's ongoing efforts to improve  public boating access facilities throughout the territory. 

The Department's Division of Fish and Wildlife has completed the replacement of the  dock's skirting and other deteriorated wooden components. Additional enhancements,  including repairs to dock cleats and solar lighting, are scheduled to be completed in the coming weeks. New fenders will also be installed to provide added protection for vessels  during docking and loading operations. 

While construction activities continue, members of the boating community are encouraged  to exercise caution when launching and retrieving vessels at the facility. 

"We know how important, reliable boating access is to our residents and visitors, and we  are pleased to see these improvements taking shape at Altona Lagoon," said Commissioner  Oriol. "These upgrades are part of a broader effort to enhance boating infrastructure across  the territory. Our goal is to provide safe, functional, and accessible facilities that support  recreational boating and public enjoyment of our coastal resources."
