St. Croix - Joyia Inspirational Jewelry, home of some of the most creative jewelry designs in the Caribbean, is presenting art exhibits by some of St. Croix’s hottest new artists at her wonderful new space on Queen Cross Street in downtown Christiansted.
Joyia’s Artist-in-Residence program opens on Art Thursday, every month, during the Art Thursday season (Nov-May). The program presents exciting works from new artists every month.
This April’s artist is the prominent, locally known photographer and artist Lee Lashley. Mr. Lashley’s stunning collection of works captures the Virgin Islands in a way that explores photography through a lens that transforms his subjects and scenes into a new experience that brings out their textural feeling along with the playful way in which this seasoned photographer personally experiences light and imagery.
Mr. Lashley is known for his “Art of Visions” collection which captures Caribbean landscapes, aerial, and underwater scenes. Based in the U.S. Virgin Islands, he creates 360-degree imagery, photography, and video. He currently has on display at Joyia Inspirational Jewelry his unique perspectives on landscapes, seascapes, underwater imagery, abstract details and powerful portraits.
The Artist-in-Residence at Joyia Inspirational Jewelry for May 2026, with an opening night on Art Thursday May 21st, is Sandra Zappala. Ms Zappala’s work is deeply-rooted in her love of nature, solitude, and the quiet beauty of the landscapes that surround her on St. Croix. This celebrated artist brings an intimate sensitivity to her paintings, creating peaceful scenes where light, color, and atmosphere evoke calm, reflection, and a sense of stillness.
The Joyia Inspirational Jewelry Artist-in-Residence program which runs during the season from November to May and coincides with Art Thursday in downtown Christiansted, is a welcome addition to the burgeoning St. Croix art scene.
Joyia’s jewelry has been a sensation since the store opened in 2012. Her Original Goddess Collection unlocks and celebrates the creativity, intuition and connection that lies within each woman.
“At Joyia, we handcraft meaningful jewelry and curate crystals and gifts that inspire connection, growth, and joy,” said Joyia about her wonderful new store on Queen Cross Street. “Each piece of jewelry is infused with hope and intention - a reminder of your inner strength and the light you carry within. Our crystals and gifts are thoughtfully chosen to complement your journey and help you rise into your full potential.”
Feel Joy. Live Joy. Share Joy.
