St. Croix - Governor Albert Bryan Jr. announced the installation of three new “Welcome to St. Croix” signs at the intersection of East Airport Road and the Melvin Evans Highway, marking another step in his Administration’s ongoing effort to beautify major landmarks, gateways, and highly visible public areas across the Territory.

The “Welcome to St. Croix” signage was erected by Department of Public Works contractor Island Designs Landscape & Storm Water Solutions LLC, as part of a broader beautification initiative launched and supported by Governor Bryan to improve the appearance of public spaces that welcome residents, visitors and returning Virgin Islanders.

“This is about pride of place,” The governor said. “When people arrive on St. Croix, when they travel through our main corridors and when they pass the places that help define our islands, those spaces should reflect the  beauty, dignity and promise of the Virgin Islands. This new signage is one more visible reminder that we are continuing to invest in the appearance, identity and overall experience of our Territory.”

The East Airport Road and Melvin H. Evans Highway intersection is one of St. Croix’s most heavily traveled gateway areas, serving residents and visitors moving to and from the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport and other major points across the island.

“Beautification is not cosmetic. It is part of how we care for our communities, strengthen our tourism product and show respect for the people who live here every day,” Governor Bryan said. “Clean, attractive and well maintained public spaces send a message that we value our islands and that we are serious about moving them forward.”

Governor Bryan thanked Tourism Commissioner Jennifer Matarangas-King and Public Works Commissioner Derek Gabriel for their leadership in executing the project and for their continued work on additional beautification efforts across the Territory.
