St. Croix - Ruff Start STX, a 501(c)(3) animal rescue nonprofit based on St. Croix, USVI, officially acquired the historic Victoria House Inn in Frederiksted.

Founded in 2020 by Katie Nelson, Ruff Start STX focuses on rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming vulnerable, injured, and abandoned island dogs. The organization originally established a presence at the property by opening the Ruff Night Hair of the Dog bar and dog cafe in the Victoria House courtyard, donating all proceeds to the rescue.
