Sandy’s Bait & Tackle Lands The Big One in Christiansted

St. Croix - There’s an old fishing slogan that captures the joy, relaxation, and adventure of angling: Bait It and They Will Come.

Here to help make those fishing dreams come true is the arrival of Sandy’s Bait & Tackle which has recently opened its doors at 55 Company Street in downtown Christiansted. This very cool looking fishing supply store is filled with everything an Angler needs to make for a great day out on the waves. From a great variety of classy and classic rods and reels to lines, leaders, baits and lures, Sandy’s Bait & Tackle carries all the fishing basics.

Their Rods and Reels are available as individual components or pre-paired rod and reel combos for beginners. This includes spinning and specialized saltwater rods. In Fishing Line they carry the essential varieties such as monofilament, fluorocarbon, and braided lines. They also spool your lines if needed. They have hooks (single, treble, circle), sinkers/weights, snaps, and bobbers/floats.

Sandy’s is your outlet for a vast selection of Artificial Lures, hard baits, (crankbaits, jerkbaits), and soft plastics. They also carry frozen bait.

They are stocked with specialized tools and accessories, including fishing nets, gaffs, and bait buckets/aerators to keep live bait healthy. Sandy’s carries a line of essential tools including pliers for hook removal, line cutters/scissors, pocket knives, and scales or rulers for measuring catches.

In the Storage and Apparel department, they have tackle boxes, soft-sided bags, and utility trays to organize small gear. They have clothing, hooded jackets, fishing shirts, and general supplies.

“Just what we needed in downtown Christiansted,” said Melvin, a tourist who comes to St. Croix seasonally to try and land a big one. “And I like that it’s in walking distance to all the hotels,” he told the St. Croix Times. “Never know where I’m staying from year to year.”

Sandy’s Bait & Tackle is a family owned fishing supply shop. 

“It was built around a shared love of Fishing,” Sandy said. “Which was inspired by my husband and son whose passion for the sport of fishing prompted us to open the St. Croix store.” 

Sandy’s husband, a Virgin Islands native, wanted to establish a reliable local fishing supply shop for the community. The family is dedicated to supporting local fishermen and visitors by providing quality, bait and tackle with friendly knowledgeable service.
