St. Croix Expands Air Access with United Airlines’ New Nonstop Newark Service

ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — The Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) welcomes the  launch of United Airlines’ new nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport  (EWR) and Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) on St. Croix, beginning Saturday, October 31, 2026.

The new route will operate weekly on Saturdays with a Boeing 737-700 aircraft, providing a  direct connection between St. Croix and the New York metropolitan area. The service  significantly expands air access for St. Croix residents, visitors, business travelers, and  Virgin Islanders living on the mainland. As a major United Airlines hub, Newark Liberty  International Airport also offers convenient connections throughout the United States and  internationally, further expanding travel options for St. Croix residents and visitors.

“United’s Newark-St. Croix service is a significant win for St. Croix,” said VIPA Executive  Director Ava Penn. “It expands access to a major United States market, supports tourism  and business activity, and makes travel easier for our residents and Virgin Islanders living in  the U.S.”

USVI Commissioner of Tourism Jennifer Matarangas-King said, “United Airlines’ new  nonstop service from Newark to St. Croix marks an exciting step in our continued efforts to  expand air connectivity to the U.S. Virgin Islands. The New York metropolitan area remains  a key market for our destination, and this new route creates greater opportunities for  travelers to experience St. Croix’s rich culture, history, and natural beauty. We thank United  Airlines for its continued investment in our islands and look forward to welcoming more  visitors to St. Croix.”

The route complements United Airlines’ existing service between Newark and St. Thomas,  giving travelers more flexibility when planning multi-island itineraries while supporting the  Territory’s broader efforts to expand airlift and improve accessibility throughout the U.S.  Virgin Islands.
