2 Dead in STX Car Collision on Midland Road, 5 Injured

St. Croix - The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched Police Officers at approximately 2:14 am to an automobile collision on Midland Road, St. Croix, on Monday, January 26, 2026.

The Traffic Investigation Bureau’s preliminary investigation revealed that there were seven individuals involved in the collision. Five individuals were taken to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for medical treatment. One of the vehicle occupants, 36-year old Alberto Lawrence, was pronounced deceased at the hospital by an Emergency Room Physician and was positively identified by his next of kin. Also, 57-year old Angel Miguel Felix Cortez, a pedestrian, was pronounced deceased at the scene and was later positively identified by his next of kin.

The collision is currently under investigation by the Virgin Islands Police Department Traffic Investigation Bureau, St. Croix District.
