2 STX Shooting Incidents Equal 2 Arrests for Attempted Murder

St. Croix - On February 3, 2026 ShotSpotter registered shots fired in Frederiksted near Queen Street and Market Square. Officers arriving on the scene found multiple spent cartridge casings and several vehicles damaged by gunfire. Shortly thereafter, a gunshot victim arrived at the Emergency Room of Juan F. Luis Hospital.

     

A Detective from  the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) was assigned to investigate the case. It was revealed that an argument between the gunshot victim and Shalom Fenton Sr. occurred in a parking lot near the location of Queen Street and Market Square. The argument escalated into a physical altercation, after which Mr. Fenton discharged shots at the victim. 

     

Search and arrest warrants for 28-year old Shalom Fenton Sr. were signed by a Superior Court Judge and executed by the CIB and Special Operations personnel on the morning of February 26, 2026. Mr. Fenton was taken into custody and charged with Attempted Murder. He also faces additional charges of Assault First, Assault Third, Carrying a Firearm Openly or Concealed, Reckless Endangerment First, Carrying a Weapon During a Crime of Violence, and Possession of Ammunition.

     

His bail was set at $100,000. He was transported to the Wilbur Francis Command Police Station, where he was booked, and then transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing set for Feb. 27th at Superior Court.

*Update: A second suspect in the shooting incident was arrested. On Feb. 26th, John Abramson IV, who took part in the shooting was also taken into custody. He was charged with Carrying a Firearm Openly or Concealed and Possession of Ammunition. Bail was set at $50,000. Mr. Abramson was able to post bail and was released until his Advice of Rights Hearing.

     

In a separate incident, on January 21, 2026, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a telephone call from a male who reported that he had been shot and was traveling to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for medical attention. 

     

A Detective from CIB that was assigned to the case made contact with the victim who stated he was shot by Clifton Jacobs during a verbal disagreement. Contact was made with Clifton Jacobs who stated that he and the victim got into a verbal dispute that turned physical. Mr. Jacobs claimed he was in fear of his life and fired several shots at the victim with a licensed firearm.

     

On February 24, 2026, a warrant for Clifton Jacobs’ arrest was signed by an Honorable Judge of the Superior Court, for charges of Attempted Murder First Degree. Mr. Jacobs was taken into custody and advised of his rights. Bail was set at $100,000.

     

On Feb 27th, 57-year old Clifton Jacobs was present at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station with his Defense Attorney. He was placed under arrest, booked, and his Defense Attorney made special arrangements with the Superior Court Judge who granted Mr. Jacobs’ release until his Advice of Rights Hearing.
