St. Croix - Three people were non-critically shot in a blaze of bullets unleashed at the empty lot of Carlos Car Wash in Peters Rest before dawn on Sunday.
In what appears to be a gang related shoot out, two adult women and one adult man suffered multiple gunshot wounds shortly after 4am early Sunday morning. The victims were apparently transported by private vehicle to Juan F. Luis Hospital. All three are reported to be in stable condition.
The incident occurred in the vacant parking lot next to Carlos Bar which was closed at the time.
“We close at 2am and we usually leave tables and chairs out in the lot so people can sit and bring in some food from other restaurants. But we were not open at the time of the shots fired,” Carlos Bar Owner Ana, Carlos’ wife, told the St. Croix Times. “We are just trying to serve the people good food and drinks. Nothing like this has ever happened here before. We were at home.”
The shooting incident, which apparently involved numerous shots being fired, occurred near the street where the tables are set up. By the ime officers from VIPD arrived on the scene there was no one present.
“We leave the tables out so people can have some place to sit and meet after we close. We have always done it that way,” Ana added.
Carlos recently remodeled the exterior of the popular bar and restaurant into a beautiful open-air dining experience. The establishment is visited by many government officials and Senators.
No suspects have been identified or are currently in custody.
