Apparent Suicide by Hanging Near Market Square STT

St. Thomas - On Wednesday September 16, 2026, at around 8 am, a concerned citizen called 911 and reported they had found an unresponsive male, in a building that was under renovation near the Rothschild Francis Market Square in St. Thomas.

Patrol Officers and Detectives traveled to the location and observed a male on the second floor of the building. The cause of death was an apparent hanging. The manner of death is still under consideration pending further investigation and an autopsy. But at this time the death is believed to have been a suicide.

The male was identified by next of kin as 41-year old Chase M. Shaw.
