ST. Croix - On Sunday, March 15, 2026, at approximately 12:02 pm, the 911 Emergency Call Center notified the Traffic Investigation Bureau (TIB) of a one vehicle automobile collision that occurred on the southern shoulder of Queen Mary Highway in the vicinity of The Market STX Supermarket in Frederiksted.

Upon the TIB Officers arrival at the scene, members of the FireEMS were preparing to extricate the two occupants from the vehicle. Emergency Medical Technicians confirmed that the driver and the passenger expired at the scene of the horrendous crash.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was operating his green 2004 Suzuki Vitara when heading eastbound on Queen Mary Highway, at what appeared to be a high rate of speed, when the vehicle veered quickly to the right across the westbound lane and smashed dead-on into a Mahogany tree.

The driver, 83-year old Mr. Carlos Sterling, and passenger, 62-year old Ms. Alexis D. Broadhurst were identified by their next of kin.

This case remains open and under investigation by the Virgin Islands Police Department Traffic Investigation Bureau, St. Croix District.
