Woman Arrested - Assault on Police Officer

St. Croix - on August 24, 2026, at around 5pm, VIPD units were dispatched by the 911 Emergency Call Center to a residence on St. Croix following reports of a male allegedly threatening individuals with a possible firearm. 

     

A Detective responded to the scene and, while de-escalating the situation, was assaulted by a female, one of the occupants in the house, who was then tased by the Detective. 

     

As a result of the incident, Aaliyah Cuencas, 21, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery Upon a Police Officer and Obstructing and Delaying. Ms. Cuencas was booked and processed at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station. Bail was set at $1,000 which she posted. She was subsequently released pending her Advice of Rights Hearing.


 Arrest for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor

St. Croix - The VIPD arrested 23-year old Angel Rosa for Aggravated Rape First Degree, Assault First, Unlawful Sexual Contact First and Child Abuse. On June 12, 2025, at around 5pm, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call from Juan F. Luis Hospital, regarding the sexual assault of a minor. 

     

A Detective from the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) began an investigation into the incident and eventually was able to discover the fact that Angel Rosa allegedly sexually assaulted the minor victim. On July 13, 2026, an arrest warrant for Angel Rosa was signed by a Superior Court Judge.

     

On August 21, 2026, Angel Rosa was taken into custody. His bail was set at $150,000. Mr. Rosa was booked and transported to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.


Man Arrested in STX Shooting Incident

St. Croix - Detectives with The VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) have arrested 37-year old Jamain Riley in connection with a shooting that left one individual injured.

     

On August 22, 2026, at around 4:30 pm, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report from a male victim stating that he had been shot at his residence. 

     

etectives contacted the adult male victim, who reported that he was at home with family members when a suspect, identified as Jamain Riley, arrived uninvited. According to the victim, an argument ensued, during which Mr. Riley allegedly produced a firearm and fired at him in the presence of another adult and children. 

     

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his right wrist and was transported by ambulance to Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment.

     

On August 24, 2026, Jamain Riley was present at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, where he was taken into custody. Mr. Riley declined to provide a statement. 

     

Mr. Riley was arrested, charged, and booked in connection with the incident. He faces an Attempted Murder charge, along with Assault First, Reckless Endangerment First, Assault Third Discharging or Aiming a firearm causing injury, Carrying of firearm open or concealed with intent to commit a crime, Carrying or using a dangerous weapon, Possession/selling ammunition. Bail was set at $100,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.
