F’sted Fish Market Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested

St. Croix - Donnie Heywood, wanted for Attempted Murder in the shoot-up at the Frederiksted Fish Market in March 2025 is now in Police custody.
On March 2, 2025, at around 3:15 pm, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a notification of multiple shots being fired in the vicinity of the Frederiksted Fish Market. Police Officers from the Patrol Division were dispatched and contacted two gunshot victims at the scene. A third gunshot victim traveled to Juan F. Luis Hospital by private vehicle. Multiple spent cartridge casings were discovered on the roadway.
A Detective from the Criminal Investigation Bureau was assigned to investigate the case, which revealed with the help of community input, that Donnie Heywood was a suspect in the shooting incident. On March 1, 2026, an arrest warrant was signed by a Superior Court Judge for Donnie Heywood.
On March 19, 2026, Donnie Heywood, 19, turned himself in at the Wilbur Francis Command Police Station. He was placed under arrest and charged with Attempted Murder, Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Firearm during a crime of Violence, Aiming or Discharging, Reckless Endangerment First, Assault First, and Assault Third.
Bail was set at $100,000. He was booked and transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.
