Middle East - The terrorist regime of Iran had its leadership of 40 top generals and officials, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, killed in Israeli and U.S. airstrikes over the past two days. Iran had its air defense system knocked out, its naval capacity virtually destroyed, its nuclear capabilities blown to pieces, its terrorist proxies turning their backs on the mothership, and yet Iran continues to believe that its best course of action is to retaliate with drone and missile strikes against Israel and their closest neighbors.
This terrorist-dictatorship of the Iran government, that has ruled with an iron-fist for almost 50 years, who recently slaughtered over 30,000 of their own people for peacefully protesting their policies of attrition, continues defiantly to spew hatred and death against the U.S. and Israel and anyone who does not believe in their way of governing their people.
Iranian drone and missile strikes have intensified, hitting Israel, and the Gulf Arab countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Israel, Cyprus, Kuwait and UAE. Four U.S. service members have been reported as killed due to the attacks.
Iran’s top national security official Ali Larijani vowed “ we will not negotiate with the United States.” But President Donald Trump states that Iranian officials do want to talk with the U.S. and “are talking.”
A White House official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claims “Iran’s new potential leadership suggests its open to talks and Trump says he’s eventually willing to talk but for now the military operation continues unabated.” The official did not say who the potential new Iranian leaders are or how they made their alleged willingness to talk, but Trump told reporters on Sunday that he planned to speak with Iran’s new leadership.
“They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will be talking to them,” the President said.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said: “For 47 long years the Iranian regime has waged a savage, one-sided war against America,” and that President Trump is finishing a war that Iran started.
“We didn’t start this war, but under President Trump, we’re finishing it.” Mr. Hegseth noted that Iran did this through “the blood of our people, car bombs in Beirut, rocket attacks on our ships, murders at our embassies, roadside bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
Trump states as his objectives for the war are to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons that they would inevitably turn against their sworn enemies of the U.S. and Israel; and to stop them from supporting their proxies, like Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Houthis, who spread terror and destruction around the world.
Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), the senior Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, stated he has serious concerns about the justification for the strikes, and what Trump’s long-term plans are for the conflict, along with the risks that U.S. service members will face.
“No tears will be shed over their leadership being eliminated,” Senator Warner stated. “But always the question is: Ok, what next?”
