St. Croix - On Saturday, October 4, 2025, at approximately 4:42 pm, the VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau responded to a report of an incident that occurred on Company Street in downtown Christiansted.
The 911 Emergency Call Center received a call from the Juan F. Luis Hospital (JFL) Emergency Room where a female victim had been admitted with severe injuries. Responding Officers arrived at JFL and interviewed the woman who told investigators that she had been struck in the head and body with a hammer, resulting in serious wounds.
Upon investigation of the incident, Detectives determined that the victim had been sitting in her vehicle and having a conversation with a few other people when the suspect, identified as Michael Boyce, approached the vehicle and began arguing with her. During the course of the argument, Mr. Boyce exhibited a hammer and began striking the victim multiple times on the head and body.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB), led by Lieutenant Marisol Colon, Commander of CIB, began an immediate investigation of the brutal attack. A Superior Court Judge signed an arrest warrant for Mr. Boyce, 39, on October 17, 2025 and he was apprehended on that same day.
Mr. Boyce was taken into custody and transported to the Wilbur Francis Command Police Station, where he declined to give a statement to investigators. He was formally charged with Attempted Murder, First-Degree Assault, Third-Degree Assault, and Possession of a Deadly Weapon during a crime of violence.
Mr. Boyce was booked and bail was set at $100,000, which he was unable to post. He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights Hearing scheduled for October 20, 2025.
