Male Drowns by C’sted Boardwalk

St. Croix - A concerned citizen reported to St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center on Monday, April 13, 2026, at around 9:20 am, that the body of a male was fully submerged under water at the Christiansted Boardwalk in the vicinity of Rum Runners Restaurant.
Emergency Medical Technicians arrived on the scene and confirmed the individual had no sign of life. The male was identified as 55-year old Barnet Valarie. A preliminary investigation does not show any signs of foul play. The cause of death will be determined pending the medical examiner’s findings.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau continues to investigate this matter and urges anyone with information to contact 911, the Major Crimes Unit at 340-778-2211 or Crime Stoppers VI at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
