Man Arrested for Stabbing Brother to Death in Glynn

ST. Croix - UPDATE!! On September 7, 2026 at around 3 pm the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call reporting that a male was stabbed by a relative in Estate Glynn. 

Upon Police Officers arrival at the scene, they observed an unresponsive adult male. The victim was transported via ambulance to Juan F. Luis Hospital’s Emergency Room. The victim subsequently succumbed as a result of multiple stab wounds. His next of kin identified him as 53-year old Jose Antonio Cotto. 

While VIPD was at the crime scene, there was a suspect who was identified as Miguel A. Cotto, the victim's brother.

Miguel Cotto, 45, was detained and transported to the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB), where he was advised of his rights, interviewed and placed under arrest. Mr. Cotto was charged with Murder First Degree, Assault First, Assault Third Degree, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon During the Commission of a Crime. 

Mr. Cotto was booked and unable to post bail which was set at $1,000,000. He was remanded to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.
