Manhunt on STX Over: Suspect Surrenders

St. Croix - On August 16, 2025, at approximately 11:27 pm, the Shot Spotter system reported several shots fired at East Street in Frederiksted, St. Croix. Upon the officer’s arrival at the location, they discovered an adult female on the ground who sustained several gunshot wounds to her back area. The victim was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital by ambulance and required emergency surgery due to several major organs that were damaged. Presently, the victim is in the intensive care unit.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau were assigned to investigate; and with the help of the victim and other witnesses on the scene, they were able to identify 43-year old, Montserrat-born, Mr. Kenny Rogers of New Works in Frederiksted, as the shooter in what was apparently a domestic dispute.
Subsequently, law enforcement authorities were actively searching for Mr. Rogers, who was considered to be armed and dangerous. During the manhunt, the public was urged to be on the lookout for Mr. Rogers but to exercise caution.
On August 17, 2025, Mr. Rogers surrendered himself to the police. He was charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Assault First-DV, Discharging or Aiming Firearm, Carrying of Firearms Openly or Concealed.
Mr. Rogers was arrested, booked and unable to post bail of $100,000, he was transported to the John Bell Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility where he was remanded pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.
