St. Croix - On Saturday, May 9, 2026, at around 4:00 am, the St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center received multiple notifications from ShotSpotter along with several phone calls of gunshots being fired in the area of the Fire Station on Queen Street, Frederiksted.

Virgin Islands Police Department Officers were dispatched to the scene and upon their arrival observed multiple spent cases in the area. Some reports tallied close to 100 shots fired. Nevertheless, there were no reports of any injuries and there was no suspect information.

The violent incident prompted Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett to say:

“Frederiksted deserves safety, investment, and the full attention of every level of government. We will continue to fight for nothing less.”

The VIPD is actively investigating the matter. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is encouraged to call 911, Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-778-2211 or Crime Stoppers VI at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
