St. Thomas - A series of incidents began  at Richard Callwood Command on Thursday, April 17, 2025, when a citizen was present to report that she had reason to believe that her minor child had been sexually assaulted by a 50-year old male relative. The female stated that while at work, she received an urgent message regarding her minor daughter. The complainant added that the message stressed that she needed to speak with her child and notify the police.

An investigation into the matter revealed that on a subsequent day, the complainant had a meeting with her three children which resulted in them disclosing that they were all sexually assaulted by a relative, Gabriel Toussaint.

Court records show that Mr. Toussaint is in fact a relative of the family. The mother first became aware something was terribly wrong back in April when Mr. Toussaint’s girlfriend alerted her to finding one of the girls alone in the bedroom with him. “This is something sick he is doing to your child,” she said to the mother in a phone message.

Apparently, the abuse had been going on with at least one of the girls for several years.

On Monday, September 1, 2025, at approximately 1:30 pm, 50-year old Gabriel Toussaint was located, after an “internal wanted poster” was issued for him. He was arrested at TuTu Park Mall without incident by the Special Operations Bureau and Intel Unit. He refused to provide a statement. But was overheard muttering, “Why did they wait so long to arrest me?”

He was charged with Aggravated Rape in the Second Degree-DV, Unlawful Sexual Conduct Second Degree-DV, and Child Abuse. No bail was set in this matter. Mr. Toussaint was booked, processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights hearing.

This case is currently under investigation by the Domestic Violence Unit. Anyone who has information about this crime is urged to contact 911, the Domestic Violence Unit at 340-715-5535, or the Office of the Police Chief at 340-774-2211.
