St. Croix - On October 26, 2025, Elliot Navarro, 54, and Omayra Navarro 41, were detained at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport white attempting to leave the Territory.
Their attempt to flee stems from charges brought against them in a case dating back to January 30, 2024, when officers of the School Security Bureau were notified by the Juanita Gardine School personnel department of a sexual assault on a minor.
Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau opened an investigation into the charges, which revealed that Elliot and Omayra Navarro (husband and wife) were identified as suspects. Further investigation revealed that the couple sexually abused a 7-year old minor at their home.
The case was filed at the Attorney General’s office, and an arrest warrant was signed on September 26, 2025, by Honorable Magistrate Judge of the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands, for Elliot and Omayra Navarro.
Their charges are Aggravated Rape First Degree, Assault First, Unlawful Sexual Contact, and Child Abuse, with bail set at $150,000 as per the arrest warrant.
After being arrested at the airport, the couple were transported to the Rainbow Building, Crime Investigation Bureau, where they were placed under arrest, booked, and unable to post bail.
They were transported to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility, where they were remanded pending their Advice of Rights Hearing.
