St. Croix - On January 20, 2026, at approximately 4:00 pm, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a man who attempted to strangle a woman during the course of a heated argument.
Upon the arrival of responding Detectives, they made contact with the victim who disclosed that she and Mr. Elijah Drew, got into a verbal altercation. The woman went on to say that Mr. Drew became enraged during the argument and placed a choke hold on her, restricting her breathing. Due to the physical assault, the victim sustained visible injuries.
The Detectives made contact with 29-year old Elijah Drew on January 22, 2026, at about 8:00 am. He was detained and transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station where he was advised of his Miranda rights.
He was therefore placed under arrest and charged with Assault in the Second Degree, an act of domestic violence, along with Simple Assault & Battery, and Disturbance of the Peace. Mr. Drew was booked, and due to the fact it was a domestic violence case, no bail was set in the matter until it is seen by a judge.
Mr. Drew was then transported to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
