STX: Wife-Husband, Murder-Suicide Tragedy in Estate St. John

St. Croix - On Saturday, September 12, 2026, at around 8:30 pm the Emergency Call Center received a report from a woman who had arrived at a residence in Estate St, John, Christiansted, St. Croix. She reported to have found an unresponsive female inside the residence. Upon her discovery, she left the residence and called 911.
Responding officers arrived on the scene and located the female victim inside the residence. She appeared to have sustained injuries consistent with a severe stabbing in her upper body.
Detectives from the VIPD Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) also responded to the scene. During their examination of the home, the Detectives also located an unresponsive male in one of the bathrooms. He appeared to have sustained what was very possibly a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Both victims were identified by next of kin as 56-year old Carmen Ferdinand and her husband, 57-year old Dennis Ferdinand.
Preliminary findings indicate the incident may be a homicide-suicide. The circumstances surrounding both deaths remain under active investigation by CIB.
