Zuck Flying High
In recent weeks, over a two day time span, Meta Boss Mark Zuckerberg’s $68 million private jet has flown so much that it has burned 7,254 gallons of jet fuel and released 70 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, as the multi-billionaire has been shuttling between Monterey, California and his Hawaiian estate in Lihue. Hawaii.
The 40-year old genius behind Facebook may have banned jet-tracking activities on his platforms, but he hasn’t escaped the scrutiny of Twitter rival Bluesky. A tracker monitoring Zuckerberg’s jet has revealed multiple trips between the two destinations. Whether for business or overseeing the construction of his eccentric Hawaiian home, where he owns 1,300 acres of beachfront, Zuck or someone in his family uses the Gulfstream G650ER private jet with the frequency reserved for automobile use.
The 70 tons of CO2 that was emitted into the atmosphere is the equivalent to 15 years of driving for a single car.
While Zuckerberg’s rise, becoming the youngest member of the $200 billion club, seems unstoppable, his jet-setting lifestyle hasn’t evaded public scrutiny. Despite suspending Instagram accounts and Threads pages tracking private jets owned by himself, Elon Musk, and celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Kylie Jenner, these efforts appear futile, as new trackers have emerged, continuing to monitor the movements of his Gulfstream and the private jets of others.
Meanwhile Zuck’s Superyachts are also under the microscope. As his ballooning net worth matches his carbon footprint, the Tech Mogul recently acquired two state-of-the-art Superyachts, the $300 million Launchpad and $30 million Wingman are reportedly making a transatlantic journey from French Polynesia to Florida.
Perhaps more efficient trip planning, savvy travel agents suggest, could curb the environmental impact, such as staying in one location longer rather than making quick round trips. But, of course, for centibillionaires like Mr. Zuckerberg, time is money. It is estimated the Meta Boss earns approximately $400,000 per minute. When you have that kind of dough, the sky’s the limit.
