ST. Croix - In what appears to be a bizarre turn of events, the Williams Delight home of murdered VIPD Police Officer Eustace Charles, who was gunned down in front of his home in the early hours of the morning on July 26, 2026, was engulfed in flames late Thursday night.

Although officials say the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire that destroyed most of the structure, at this time, they had no cause for what started the blaze.

At approximately 11pm on August 13, 2026, the V.I. 911 Emergency Call Center received several calls reporting the structure was on fire in Estate Williams Delight. Multiple callers quickly identified the property as Eustace Charles’s former home and reported it was fully engulfed in flames.

V.I. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel and VIPD Officers responded to the call and arrived on the scene shortly afterwards. Fire personnel confirmed an active structure fire and immediately began firefighting operations.

Although the fire notice did not indicate any connection between the blaze and VIPD Officer Charles’s murder, authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire or the full extent of the damage and are actively investigating the matter. No persons were in the house at the time of the fire.
